The Maritime Museum is a fitting tribute to the Naval strength of India

Long before the advent of airplanes, high speed trains and express highways, there was only one way through which people travelled overseas – by conquering the mighty oceans. Especially when it came to expanding and maintaining their colonies, many colonial powers relied heavily on the strength of their naval fleets. India’s maritime history is illustrious; starting from the era of the colonial powers in India to developing one of the world’s best naval forces. The Maritime Museum is a fitting tribute to the Naval strength of India.

The Maritime museum gives visitors all the information they need to know on the rich maritime history of Kerala. The museum sheds light in to the operations of the Navy, it’s history, evolution and many stories of bravery and valour that it displayed throughout the history. The various sections of the museum impart information regarding different facts and figures relating to India’s naval growth.

The progression phases ranging from the time of Indus Valley Civilization period and era of Arab links to the present day scenario are included. There are war memorabilia exhibits including radars, guns, anti-aircraft missiles and so on. Another section is dedicated to India’s shipbuilding ventures. A special section is also dedicated to showcase India’s naval victories since independence.
